Scotland's Climate March and Rally a march from the Meadows in Edinburgh culminating with a rally at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens

Join the worldwide movement marching for a better future. Ahead of the UN climate change negotiations in Paris, we’ll stand up for people affected by rising global temperatures and demand that world leaders agree an ambitious deal. A low carbon society will create green jobs, improve our transport and food systems and protect our land, air and water. Scotland needs to show its colours in Paris and beyond with strong action on climate change. Wear your brightest colours as Scotland marches on this weekend of global action. Everyone is encouraged to attend so please invite your friends, families and followers. The march is organised by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS), a diverse coalition of organisations in Scotland campaigning together on climate change. Coalition members include environment, faith and international development organisations, trade and student unions and community groups.

AFTER THE BRITISH STATE: THE ROAD TO DEMOCRACY A special Radical Independence Conference to discuss, debate and plan action to put people powered solutions at the centre of the crisis of the British state and Europe. This event will put the democratic deficit and the radical decline of the British State in context, with speakers from across Europe, England, Scotland, the workers movement and youth. We'll be talking about the failure of British politics to change the lives of ordinary people, and how we can do things differently. In addition we will discuss and debate the changing terrain on which we must build a new grassroots movement for independence. With a combination of plenaries, workshops, debates and facilitated sessions to organise practical activity, this really is not to be missed. #RIC2016 TICKETS: https://livestream.com/IndependenceLive/RICAfterBritState

A night of Common Weal Music and Comedy Common Fest Night! #Commonfest We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks to finalise the lineup for CommonFest and are very happy to announce that the bill is now complete! The night will be opened by wordsmith Alan Bissett. Our speakers are Common Weal founder Robin McAlpine, the wonderful Elaine C. Smith (a Common Weal Board Member) and the author, artist and all-round great-Scot Alasdair Gray. Comic relief will be provided by the cutting wit of Vladimir McTavish and Lady Alba’s melodic satire. On musical duties for the evening we have up-and-coming Glasgow rockers Suspire, David MacGregor from indie-favourites Kid Canaveral, leading Glasgow rapper Loki and 2013 Scottish Album of the Year winner RM Hubbert. Local artists Katy Christopher, Janie Nicoll, Megan Coyle and Pearl Kinnear will also be there to either display or create work inspired by the ‘All of Us First’ philosophy of Common Weal. But that’s not all! We’ll be joined on the night by organisations such as Scottish CND, the Living Rent Campaign and the Scottish Unemployed Workers Network who’ll be manning a number of information and engagement stalls. Common Weal staff will also be manning a booth to provide further information about who we are and what we do (and they might even have some goodies for sale). Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
