Bare Facts... Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow: Lesley Riddoch, Lady Alba, Teenage Fanclub’s Francis Macdonald, Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes, comedian David Bratchpiece and Scottish singer/songwriter Findlay Napier

GRASSROOTS POLITICS DETERMING SCOTLAND’S FUTURE The Bare Facts is hosting an evening of music, comedy and politics one week before the UK General Election with guest speaker Lesley Riddoch giving her insights on Scotland’s future post-election. Lesley McLean, one of The Bare Facts founding members, said: “We are so excited about our forthcoming event since we started from very humble beginnings, a group of local women meeting in someone’s home. We are a mixed group of voters but we felt the need to get the Bare Facts out there about the key issues that concern people, the economy, NHS, pensions… without the political spin. The biggest legacy of the Scottish referendum is not a divided nation but a nation that is politically engaged, interested and active – grassroots politics is having its day.” Lesley Riddoch, broadcaster and journalist, will lift the lid on politics on Thurs 30th April at Cottiers Theatre and give a frank talk on Scotland’s future touching on the issues of local control and empowerment, land ownership and reform, top down democracy and ending elitism. No spin just the BARE FACTS! Lesley Riddoch contends “Ordinary Scots have demonstrated their capacity to run Scotland time after time – yet continue to tolerate a remarkably elitist, top-down, centralised, “stand there till we fix you” society that will not change on its own whatever the outcome on the 7th May -- but there is a palpable sea change in political awareness emerging. Roaming around Scotland to do talks, I find audiences aghast that they know so little about Scotland, its history, the pioneering achievements of its ain folk and the way our norms sit within a European context. But also hungry for more easy to understand information to raise their knowledge without signing up for a block of evening classes. Can that be done in some imaginative way? Maybe Bare Facts and the other grassroots movements which have emerged after the Scottish referendum can help to address this.” Performances on the night include Lady Alba, Teenage Fanclub’s Francis Macdonald, Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes, comedian David Bratchpiece and Scottish singer/songwriter Findlay Napier. The event will be hosted by Viv Gee; comedian, writer and winner of the Scottish Comedy Award for Outstanding Contribution to Comedy in 2014.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

Bairns Not Bombs Blockade - Faslane Nuclear Base A blockade to stop work at Faslane where Trident nuclear weapons are based just 30 miles from Glasgow.

On Monday, 13th April the Scrap Trident Bairns Not Bombs Blockade will stop work at Faslane where Trident nuclear weapons are based just 30 miles from Glasgow. Please consider either taking part directly or in a support role. For more details check out the Blockade Briefing at http://scraptrident.org/ Nonviolent Direct Action training will take place on Sunday 12th April in Glasgow. Everyone considering taking part in or supporting the blockade is asked to take part in training. Contact us for more info to set up a training for a local affinity group. Please Register at: http://scraptrident.org/faslane-blockade-2015/accomodation-and-training-registration/ Book a place on a Bus from Glasgow, Edinburgh and other places. Details at: http://scraptrident.org/faslane-blockade-2015/book-bus-to-blockade/ A one day blockade may seem to be only a gesture; the blockade may not significantly interfere with the operation of Trident. But when people put their bodies on the line & risk arrest it is a strong statement. Like a pebble dropped in a pond, such actions send out ripples. We don't know what effect it may have. By blockading we the people are telling the politicians: you don't have the right to continue threatening armageddon. Stop it! The Blockade is also part of the Global Day of Action on Military Spending, calling for substantial reductions in military spending, currently set at £38Billion for next year and for redirecting those funds towards investment in sustainable energy and other human needs like education and health. Poverty fuels wars and increasing spending on weapons by poorer countries increases poverty. It's a vicious circle. But there is currently a great deal of pressure from NATO and the US for the UK to increase its spending on the military to 2%. It's another reason to take part in this blockade. The Global Day of Action will be just that - with actions against military spending around the world. Be part of it. Our future does not have to be built around warmongering, resource competition and strife. It can be about compassion, nurturing, mutualism and care. For too long the world’s governments have wasted too many precious resources on weapons that do not provide real security. There is another way.

Scotland against TTIP launch The launch of the Scotland Against TTIP coalition, find out more about how TTIP might impact on Scotland and what you can do to stop it.

Come to the launch of the Scotland Against TTIP coalition, find out more about how TTIP might impact on Scotland and what you can do to stop it. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Treaty (TTIP) is more than just a trade deal. It is an unprecedented transfer of power from democratically elected governments to trans-national corporations. For the first time, on a grand scale, corporations would be able to sue governments if they make public policy decisions which could harm their profits in the future. And while TTIP threatens to lower standards which currently protect people, public services and the environment, there is little evidence that it will bring the promised benefits of growth and jobs. But across Scotland, the UK, Europe and the US a movement to oppose TTIP is growing. Come and hear speakers on TTIP's impact on the environment, workers' rights, food and farming, public services and Scotland's democracy itself. Meet local anti-TTIP campaigners from across Scotland Find out how you can get involved in the movement to stop TTIP Visit stalls and get more information And get inspired! This event is organised jointly by Global Justice Now, Unison, Unite, UCU, USI, PCS, Hope Not Hate Glasgow, Nourish Scotland, Radical Independence Campaign, Friends of the Earth Scotland, RMT, the People's Assembly, War on Want and Women for Independence.

Bairns Not Bombs Scrap Trident Demo Speakers: Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland; Patrick Harvie MSP, Co-Convenor, Scottish Greens; Katy Clark MP (Labour); Cat Boyd, RIC; Sasha Callaghan, Disability History Scotland; Nuala Watt, Human Beings on Benefits; Ann Henderson, STUC

Bairns Not Bombs Scrap Trident Demo Saturday 4th 11:00am - 1:30pm George Square, Glasgow Speakers: Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland; Patrick Harvie MSP, Co-Convenor, Scottish Greens; Katy Clark MP (Labour); Cat Boyd, Radical Independence Campaign; Sasha Callaghan, Disability History Scotland; Nuala Watt, Human Beings on Benefits; Ann Henderson, Assistant Secretary, STUC; and singers Karine Polwart and Penny Stone. Despite the opposition of the SNP, Greens, Plaid Cymru and a handful of Labour rebels the main UK parties plan to replace Trident at a cost of £100Bn and keep nuclear weapons in Scotland for the next 50 years. But Scotland could turn the tide on the decision on Trident replacement and the future of nuclear disarmament worldwide. A solid bloc of anti-Trident MPs from Scotland in the next Westminster Parliament could hold the balance of power and stop Trident in its tracks. And most countries support a Ban on Nuclear Weapons. The deadlock of Mutually Assured Destruction is crumbling and there is a now a chance to Scrap Trident and Ban the Bomb. Let's seize the moment and send a strong message that Scotland will not accept Trident any longer with a mass demonstration. Be at the Bairns Not BOMBS Demonstration. George Square. Glasgow 4 April. Assemble 10:30. March 11am. Rally 12noon. And we urge you to consider joining in resisting UK plans to continue threatening the world with nuclear holocaust by engaging in civil disobedience. Join or Support the Big Blockade at Faslane Nuclear Weapons Base 13 April. Nonviolent Direct Action Training 12 April in a Glasgow venue. Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

Red Road Flats Demolition RED ALERT DANGER DANGER Covering the controversial demolition of the Red Road Flats

ALSO here for protesters live stream within the danger zone http://livestre.am/5dlJI Highly contentious issue with many locals against the blowing up of these 6 flats at once and want them brought down floor by floor. The flats could still contain asbestos; they are very close to residential areas including a nursery and there is worry about water and gas pipes being burst. See WikiPedia link for more info and criticism of previous Red Row flats that have been blown up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Road_Flats

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
