Universal Basic Income - Join the Movement! Another installment from the year long series. UPDATE: livestream to be confirmed.

The fourth event in a Year long campaign, exploring Universal Basic Income in Glasgow This month we are Launching a Movement, It has become apparent during the course of these events that UBI has become seriously considered by Councils in Scotland for a Pilot to be tested in one or two of scotlands major cities so we are shifting temporarily from an open exploration of the concept with a variety of different speakers and performers, to a more educational focused string of events This month will be featuing Counciler Matt Kerr who is championing UBI as a Policy in Glasgow and Fife and open to engaging with the public to learn about the Main issues and concerns that you, the attendee's, raise during the workshops Ellie Harrison ( Artist behind " The Glasgow Effect" ) will be along to do a talk and get involved in the Q&A workshops The movement? We will be actively launching our own independent surge of energy towards getting Universal Basic Income more out there into the zietgiest as it already is, working closely with existing organisations and particularly with the artistic community in Glasgow as a force for change. Starting to expand into an online campaign, door to door / street canvassers and making the workshops mobile, bringing our resources to all different area's of Glasgow to collect information on what people are saying about basic income. Its all with a pinch of salt, and its nothing original but we want to dive into this as it is an exciting time for UBI and we all want to get involved. Come introduce yourself at the event!!! If you are an artist or a speaker who would be interested in performing or bringing something to the event, get in touch with Johnny cypher on facebook or here at Johnnycypherfuturology@gmail.com Thanks, more details as we confirm them!

Scotland Against Trump : Edinburgh Meadows Highlights Edinburgh :Scotland Against Trump DEMONSTRATION

Donald Trump has set a course for nothing short than a turn to fascism, and Theresa May is backing it to the hilt. In the last week Trump has brought forward a raft of executive orders that will embolden every white nationalist, and is preparing to embark on massive voter suppression. In a move akin to the Nazis he has pledged to publicly name all immigrants who have committed a crime on a weekly basis. That will open the door to a surge in racist attacks, and he knows it. He has reinstated torture, sent abortion rights back to the stone age and inserted a who's who of the elite in his cabinet and is being directed strategically by white supremacist Steve Bannon. The wall is being built, and the process for banning Muslims entering the US is underway. This is a time to fight back. We will stand up and be counted. Trump is the apex of an insurgency of an international far-right. We will resist. We are the majority. We are ready to make our voice heard. Theresa May is setting herself up as the key Trump ally. She has nothing but praise for his regime, and is even using the NHS as a bargaining chip for a Trump trade deal. She says that together with Trump the U.S. and UK will 'lead the world.' We are calling for a mass mobilisation to assemble the Meadows. We will march, and our route will be released soon. These are not ordinary times. Be on this demonstration and recruit your friends to the resistance.

Speakers: Professor Mike Danson (Heriot-Watt University) Janet Fenton (Scottish CND) Brendan O'Hara (MP Argyll & Bute) Lesley Riddoch (Journalist & Broadcaster) Chair: Alannah Maurer (Navy Not Nuclear) It is argued that the removal of Trident from the Faslane Naval Base would be gravely detrimental to the local economy and to the wellbeing of surrounding local communities. This is a message of stagnation and despair, calculated to frighten people into accepting the presence of weapons of mass destruction on their very doorsteps. Our Conference intends to show that the removal of nuclear weapons from Faslane would be the making of this area, in terms of: • the necessary decommissioning and decontamination post nuclear • the establishment of Scotland's own conventional defence force HQ • the freeing up of the Clyde estuary for alternative usages currently proscribed by the presence of nuclear • the range of less tangible rewards and benefits accruing to us with the removal of nuclear weapons from our soil and from our waters Research shows that given adequate advance planning, sufficient resources and strong political direction, conversion away from defence employment can result in long term net benefits to local economies with minimal transitional unemployment. (‘Trident & Jobs’, STUC/SCND). We can provide all of these in spades, particularly when we would no longer have to pay out our share of the £200 billion plus that is the true cost of the Trident successor. In the words of the redoubtable Elaine C Smith: "Scotland deserves a better script - let's start writing it!" (National 14/1/2017) Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1849990571882459/

Boston Trans & Queer Liberation + Immigrant Solidarity Protest

Dozens of Boston area organizations are rallying for the LGBT community and immigrants at Boston City Hall. From the event organizers page: https://www.facebook.com/events/392408787772958/ "They say: “Trump is very pro-LGBT for a Republican. He won’t eliminate federal nondiscrimination protections, and won’t attack gay marriage. Trump wants to protect LGBT people from oppressive foreign ideologies.” We say: “Trump and his people are extremely and viciously anti-LGBTQ. They have already done great harm to Queer and Trans immigrants, Muslims, undocuqueer people, incarcerated folks, Black people, Native QT and Two-Spirit people through EOs on Muslim ban, border wall, pipelines. They’re denying millions of QT people access to health care by dismantling ACA. Neil Gorsuch, their supreme court nominee, will be a disaster for QT people. They are threatening voter ID laws to disenfranchise millions of already marginalized people. They want to spread Stop and Frisk everywhere and give police more power when they already are killing Black & Brown people every day. They want a so-called ‘religious exemption’ to nondiscrimination that is really a license for bigotry.Trump is reinvigorating and incentivizing a long-standing program that deputizes local authorities to enforce federal immigration law, regardless of Sanctuary City status. AND we are all here for each other in solidarity. We don’t just care about gender identity and sexual orientation. We care for one another as whole humans because our liberation is bound up together.”"

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
