TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL MARCH - Save Our School Buses Glasgow 3:30PM starting in Dukes Road. Campaign to Save Free School Buses for Kids.

After the success of march through Maryhill we are going to do it all again but in another location. This time its Trinity High School. Bring your banners and cameras. The Free School Bus Service is being cut by Glasgow City Council for many children that could affect their education and financial situation for families. In addition children will now have to walk along dangerous and busy Glasgow streets in all kinds of Scottish weather to get to school. We wonder how many councilors who voted for the cut would let their children do the same. Monday, July 27 at 3:30pm Trinity,High School,Dukes Road,Rutherglen,G73 3LW

Scotland's Future History with Stuart McHardy A Scotland-centric history of Scotland?

Stuart McHardy, historian and folklorist, and author of Scotland's Future History poses questions about how we want to present Scotland's history. A chance, guided by Stuart, to look at history with a different perspective, and with questions of power and interest at the fore. In whose interest is it that we accept the the classical/Christian view of our history? "What if prehistoric Scotland was not some dark, remote land populated by barbarians, but was actually home to a highly sophisticated civilisation? What if the Scots never came from Ireland? What if Scotland never fought any ‘Wars of Independence’? What if Culloden wasn’t the end of the Jacobites?" http://www.luath.co.uk/scotland-future-history.html In Scotland’s Future History, and tonight for Common Weal Edinburgh North & Leith, Stuart shows us a new approach to history. You're challenged to have your perception of Scotland’s history changed!

Born and bred on the north coast of Ireland, Tommy went to Aberdeen University to study medicine in 1977. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in sociology and politics. He set off for London having been elected Vice-President of the NUS, intending to stay for a year. He stayed for eleven, working in PR and campaigns along the way. He was elected to Hackney Council in 1986 and became deputy leader four years later. In 1993 he returned to Scotland and was appointed Assistant General Secretary of the Labour Party under John Smith. Three years later Tony Blair asked him to leave. He started the Stand Comedy Club as a hobby in 1995 and in 1998 turned it into a business. It is now a successful institution with venues in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. It is also one of the largest venues on the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival. Tommy was very active in the Yes campaign in the two years running up to the referendum. He ran the local group in south Edinburgh and helped nationally too – he organised the Night for Scotland event at the Usher hall four days before the vote. He is on the National Council of the Scottish Independence Convention and the board of Common Weal. A new member of the SNP he was selected for the Edinburgh East constituency in January 2015. He lives in Newington with his partner Kate and cocker spaniel Henry.

OXI! #ThisIsACoup - Edinburgh Demo Solidarity demo in Edinburgh in parallel with similar demos in Greece, to support Greek people whose parliament is being forced by the European elites to pass undemocratic laws. Join us at the Mound

OXI to the Troika agreement! OXI to Austerity. OXI to blackmail. The Troika says cut back, we say fight back! Join the Glasgow rally as part of the global day of solidarity protests to say... Solidarity with the people of Greece. OXI to the Troika agreement! OXI to Austerity! OXI to blackmail! Drop Greek Debt! From Glasgow to Greece, No Justice, No Peace! Solidarity demos and rallies will be held around the world today (Weds, 15th July) while the Greek parliament begins voting through the austerity laws demanded by the Troika. Also, at the same time today, the Adedy Greek trade union federation has called a mass strike! Adedy will be joined on strike by Athens Metro workers and workers at ERT (Greek equivalent of BBC, which was recently under workers' control for 2 years). Please send messages of support to strikers at adedy@adedy.gr from your union branch, campaign group or as an individual. Many Socialists in Greek unions are calling for another 48-hour strike next week, when a second round of legislation is due to be passed. Strikes have stopped cuts and closures in a number of places. They brought the previous government down, bringing the left to office. Striking now can protect jobs and wages—and go beyond the compromes of the Greek government to build a stronger, anti-capitalist left. Below is from Kevin Ovendon's (writer and political commentator) Facebook page "The Troika has succeeded in making the SYRIZA-government submit to their demands to implement more devastating austerity measures, by means of financial terrorism and threats to push the country over the brink of economic collapse. Some would call this a capitulation by SYRIZA, some would call #ThisIsACoup by the Troika. Whatever it is, if the Troika gets their way, it would amount to a historic defeat for everyone fighting against austerity and for democracy. The only option left for us now is escalating the struggle to the streets and the workplaces. Forced by the Troika the Greek government will on Wednesday be effectively implementing legislation that the Greek people voted NO against over little more than a week ago. All red lines have been crossed. It's up to us to defend them. So we call on everyone all over the world to take to central squares that day, to loudly say: OXI means OXI! OXI to Austerity! OXI to Capitulation! OXI to a third memorandum! YES to democracy! Yes to the power of mass strikes and collective action to fight back against the Troika and austerity. 'OXI' to Osborne - Edinburgh No Cuts Protest The Mound, Edinburgh 5:30PM. Please join the protest.

FROM ORGANISERS: The Tories (elected by 24% of the electorate) have no mandate to rule at Westminster and especially not in Scotland, but on the 8th of July, George Osborne will release his "emergency" budget where he plans £12 billion more cuts to the welfare budget. Funding for education, jobs, welfare, public services, the NHS will all likely be hit hard by this vile Tory government. They plan to slash tax credits and are likely to deepen the bedroom tax as part of a new expansion of the Tory austerity offensive on poor and working people. This is the second budget in just 4 months; one before the election and one after the votes were cast and counted. Another austerity budget for us, continued benefits for the millionaires and billionaires

HANDS OFF HOLYROOD A march and rally to request another Scottish Referendum, following Westminster's failure to deliver DEVO MAX in the Smith Comission or FFA ( Full Fiscal Autonomy )

HANDS OFF HOLYROOD (Hands roon Holyrood) gathering somewhere along Princes street to casually stroll as a party of free travellers (Sovereign Scots) at 13.00pm to Holyrood for 14.00pm. Host MC: Cheryl Searlait Scott, Speakers: Cllr Patrick Hogg (SNP) for Cumbernauld South, Blue Bradford, Robert McCaw (Greater Maryhill Food Bank), Cliff Purvis (Veterans for Scottish Independence 2.0), Dr Tony Cox (Scottish Unemployed Workers Network), James Scott (the Scottish resistance), Barbara Haig (Yes45Fife and activist for Yes and 45 movement), Gary McClements (Scottish Socialist Party). Performers: Poetry by Shaun Moore, Gerry Mulvenna, Cheryl Scott, Experience EX (The band), Jamie Coleman. Explanation of the Scotland Bill was debated in Westminster Monday 15th June. The video of Meeting started at 2.30pm, ended 11.19pm. An extract from House of Commons on Monday 15 June 2015 can be found at http://goo.gl/4fRhjB The actual moment the Vow was officially broken... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL9KNZ-TowQ The Tories helped by Labour have reneged on most of the vow and have reserved the right to abolish the Scottish Government when they please. (Not going to happen) UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence ) will happen before that. Since the failure of the main Westminster parties to deliver DEVO MAX in the Smith Comission or FFA ( Full Fiscal Autonomy ) means the 2014 referendum vote was very misleading to say the least to people of Scotland who voted no on that very basis. Following the disgraceful vote on our parliament and the vow promised to all the Scottish People, we need a show in strength and we must get behind our parliament and show we want indyref2 or UDI the time for taking blows in silence is done #HandOffHolyrood.

Scotland Stands with Greece: NO to austerity SYRIZA Scotland is calling a rally outside the office of the European Commission in Edinburgh at 12 noon on Saturday the 4th of July.

After five months of hard negotiations with the ECB, the European Commission and the IMF the Greek government was presented with a clear ultimatum: give in to harder austerity measures or default. Make Poverty History This event is organised by the Edinburgh World Justice Festival to mark 10 years since the first march against Poverty in Edinburgh and the G8 at Gleneagles.

July 2nd 2015 marks 10 years on from Make Poverty History and the G8 at Gleneagles. On 2 July 2005 more than 200,000 people marched in Edinburgh under the banner of Make Poverty History. In the aftermath and in response to the presence of the G8 leaders at Gleneagles there were more marches and a massive counter conference under the auspices of G8 alternatives. Ten years on we’ve certainly not made poverty history. What can we take from 2005 and the decade of organisation and struggle that has followed? What are the priorities for organising for social justice in 2015? If you can't attend in person, join us online for an evening of discussion and consideration of these questions. David Miller, who was involved in G8 Alternatives, and Gillian Wilson from NIDOS (Network of International Organisations in Scotland), will introduce the discussion. This event is organised by the Edinburgh World Justice Festival and takes place in Augustine United Church, 41-43 George IV Bridge, EH1 1EL, Edinburgh

RIC: GLASGOW STANDS WITH GREECE: DEMOCRACY vs AUSTERITY Organised by RIC.

ORGANISED BY THE RIC: Greece is on the frontline of the European wide battle between democracy and austerity. The situation in Greece could not be more stark. The Troika are throwing everything they have at the Greek people in order to blackmail and intimidate them into accepting their 'deal' of intensified austerity, privatisation, cuts and neoliberalism. Across Europe solidarity actions are being organised. This means that pictures of demos and gatherings of solidarity can be transmitted on social media to combat the corporate media narrative. We are calling on everyone who opposes austerity and Troika blackmail to join this demonstration of solidarity to support the Greek people. Let's cover the Buchanan street steps at 6pm on Thursday. More actions taking place as part of this event to be announced. Please forward and invite your friends - let's show Greece that the people of Glasgow are with them.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

ALSO here for protesters live stream within the danger zone http://livestre.am/5dlJI Highly contentious issue with many locals against the blowing up of these 6 flats at once and want them brought down floor by floor. The flats could still contain asbestos; they are very close to residential areas including a nursery and there is worry about water and gas pipes being burst. BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
