SELF-DETERMINATION: a new dance solo work The first choreographic work streamed live by Independence Live. Dance artist Ruth Mills explores the arena of self agency through the eyes of a woman facing marriage on the day after Scotland's independence referendum.

This is a new piece created by dance artist Ruth Mills called "SELF-DETERMINATION" and the first choreographic work that will be livestreamed by Independence Live. Quoting from Ruth's website: "Lying there, her cold, curled limbs delaying the shiver of the crisp, Scottish September morning, she recalls something her Granny said. After Grandpa died, Granny pared her sitting room down to one of everything. A chair, a little table, one cup, one plate... "It isn't good to be too dependent in life, there is far more happiness and contentedness in independence, don't rely too much on anyone else." Ruth explores the arena of self agency through the eyes of a woman facing marriage on the day after Scotland's independence referendum. From hope through despair to devision and restoration. She was on the fence, then it broke beneath her. A new musical score by Gerry Campbell, deftly weaves sweet and spikey musical motifs with spoken word and live soundscape". The performance takes place in Cottiers Theatre, 93-95 Hyndland St, Glasgow G11 5PU, United Kingdom

With the Tories going it alone in government we know exactly what to expect. More nasty, destructive cuts to the things ordinary people care about- the NHS, the welfare state, education and public services. We'll be assembling the demonstration in the heart of the City of London right on the doorstep of the very people who created the crisis in the first place, the banks and their friends in Westminster. We demand that the bankers and elite should pay for the crisis and not the vast majority who had nothing to do with it. Now is the time to get organizing, to mobilize our communities, to prepare transport and spread the word. We need to do all that we can to make this demonstration bigger and bolder than ever we have done before.

Scotland United Against Austerity A show of opposition to the Tory government in George Square (Glasgow), organised by the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) to coincide with the Peoples' Assembly event being held in London on the same day.

As austerity and attacks on trade union rights are ramped up, it's vital that the entire anti-austerity movement in Scotland comes together in a show of opposition to the Tory government. To coincide with the Peoples' Assembly event being held in London on the same day, the STUC is throwing its weight behind this major event which will underline the widespread disgust at Tory plans to embed and deepen austerity, targeting the most vulnerable. The STUC expects that this event will be co-sponsored by a range of organisations involved in the Peoples' Assembly including major trade unions, the Radical Independence Campaign, Labour Party Campaign for Socialism, the SNP Trade Union Group, the Communist Party and anti-racist grouping Hope not Hate. Let's make Saturday 20 June a truly historic event.

The Willie MacRae Petition We join Mark MacNicol as he hands in the petition for a fatal accident inquiry into the death of Willie MacRae 30 years ago

On the 30th anniversary of his death we are asking for the Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC to approve the long overdue Fatal Accident Inquiry. Why is this important? Willie McRae was a Scottish naval officer, lawyer, politician and activist involved in numerous campaigns. At the time of his death, he was under constant surveillance by MI5/Special Branch. Retired policeman Donald Morrison (on duty at the time) saw them following Willie on a Friday afternoon - he was found the following morning with a fatal gunshot to the head. In the weeks leading up to Willie's death Donald saw files being removed from Willie's office and taken to a police station to be copied. This was done without Willie's knowledge. Had Willie died at his place of work, while under arrest, or in prison, a Fatal Accident Inquiry would have been mandatory. Willie McRae’s mistake was to die while under highly aggressive surveillance by MI5/Special Branch. In addition to retired policeman Donald Morrison testimony the Scotland on Sunday recently discovered the following a- The car was removed from the scene and then taken back b- Witness statements were fabricated c- The official suicide verdict was released prior to completion of the ballistics report. An inquiry has been avoided by multiple Lords Advocate since 1985. Not holding an inquiry under these circumstances makes a mockery of the Scottish judiciary. It also leads many people to believe that our Crown Office lacks the teeth and/or the inclination to hold UK Security Services to account for their activity on Scottish soil. Put simply, many don’t believe that Willie committed suicide, and others are undecided. One thing we are all in agreement with, however, is that there are sufficient unanswered questions to warrant a long overdue FAI.

ALL SCOTLAND NATIONAL DAY OF PROTEST AGAINST BENEFIT CUTS MASS MOBILISATION CALLED BY BLACK TRIANGLE CAMPAIGN: SCOTLAND SAYS NO TO THE TORY WAR ON OUR POOR OUR SICK AND OUR DISABLED PEOPLE

MASS MOBILISATION CALLED BY BLACK TRIANGLE CAMPAIGN: SCOTLAND SAYS NO TO THE TORY WAR ON OUR POOR OUR SICK AND OUR DISABLED PEOPLE: WESTMINSTER! HANDS OFF OUR POOREST! STOP ATTACKING OUR PEOPLE! NO MORE BENEFIT RELATED DEATHS! IAIN DUNCAN SMITH OUT OF SCOTLAND NOW! FULL POWERS FOR SCOTLAND NOW! TIME HAS COME TO UNITE AND FIGHT BACK! UNITY AND SOLIDARITY FOREVER! https://www.facebook.com/blacktriangle11 'If Westminster fails to deliver [HOME RULE AND FULL POWERS OVER SOCIAL SECURITY] there will be an UPRISING in Scotland and we entertain do doubts whatsoever that we will be an independent nation within a very short span of time indeed. If you do not give us these powers the Union is finished. Be in no doubt.' STATEMENT We reject the UK Government’s unconscionable Welfare Reform Act and policies which are literally killing our people and which are immiserating millions. As disabled people and citizens of Scotland, we demand nothing less than full autonomy for the Scottish Government over all matters relating to welfare, ownership of our natural resources and national assets, income from taxation and measures to address and eradicate the poverty that blights the lives of nearly one million people in our land. If Westminster fails to deliver there will be an uprising in Scotland and we entertain no doubts whatsoever that we will be an independent nation within a very short span of time indeed. If you do not give us these powers the Union is finished. Be in no doubt. We are aware that 10,000 submissions have been made so we will make this brief. These are the reason that we demand full powers over our own affairs. Rocks would melt in the Sun before the catastrophe of UK Welfare ‘Reforms’ would be introduced by Scottish politicians elected by the people of Scotland. This is not the Scottish way. This is the land of Robert Burns. This is absolutely anathema and barbaric to us. When Scotland sends 59 Yes party MPs to Westminster in May that will be fighting to repeal the lethal and despicable Welfare Reform Act. It’s now time for all to unite with us and say together: “No More!” This is an updated tragic list of widely reported welfare-related deaths of the United Kingdom’s sick and/or disabled people. The tip of an iceberg. We will alway fight for freedom from Westminster’s murderous policies and support the struggle of all Britain’s sick and/or disabled people simultaneously, wherever they are from. http://blacktrianglecampaign.org/2014/10/31/submission-to-the-smith-commission-by-black-triangle-anti-defamation-campaign-in-defence-of-disability-rights-black-triangle-campaign/ Benefit Deaths - DWP ESA SANCTIONS death statistics 'may never see light of day': The DWP have launched a last minute appeal against an order by the Information Commissioner that they must publish controversial claimant death statistics. These are crucial times for the European radical left. SYRIZA's victory in Greece, the rise of the anti-austerity Spanish movement, the emergence of radical progressive forces across the continent show that another Europe is possible more than ever before. Sheku Bayoh - Celebrating His Life, Kirkcaldy On Sunday 7th June the funeral of Sheku Bayoh will take place in Kirkcaldy five weeks after his death in police custody. Sheku’s family have invited his friends, community and supporters of the Justice Campaign to join them in celebrating his life.

SUNDAY 7TH JUNE Statement by Aamer Anwar- solicitor for the Bayoh family. On Sunday 7th June the funeral of Sheku Bayoh will take place in Kirkcaldy five weeks after his death in police custody. Sheku’s family have invited his friends, community and supporters of the Justice Campaign to join them in celebrating his life. There will be a funeral procession starting at 12:00 noon from Hayfield Road Kirkcaldy at the spot where he was restrained and lost consciousness. The funeral cortege will leave Hayfield Road at 12.20pm and then will stop at Kirkcaldy Police Station, St. Brycedale Avenue, for a two minute silence and then work its way to Kirkcaldy Islamic Centre Mosque, 1 St Mary’s Road, KY1 2RQ for prayers at 1.45pm Following which he will be laid to rest at the Dysart Muslim Cemetery at 2.50pm. “The Bayoh family will stand in silence at Kirkcaldy Police Station in protest over the 9 officers who have failed to speak to the independent investigators of PIRC for well over a month. The family are tired of having to fight for answers and deserve the truth. There are those who claim that this funeral cortege is inflammatory, it is nothing of the sort and should any police officer or member of the public wish to cause trouble then they should stay away. Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

Red Road Flats Demolition RED ALERT DANGER DANGER Covering the controversial demolition of the Red Road Flats

ALSO here for protesters live stream within the danger zone http://livestre.am/5dlJI Highly contentious issue with many locals against the blowing up of these 6 flats at once and want them brought down floor by floor. The flats could still contain asbestos; they are very close to residential areas including a nursery and there is worry about water and gas pipes being burst. See WikiPedia link for more info and criticism of previous Red Row flats that have been blown up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Road_Flats

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
