20 YEARS OF GALGAEL - MON 24 JULY - 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. - CCA, Sauchiehall Street SPEAKERS: Sir Harry Burns, John Carnochan, Karyn McClusky, our own Alastair McIntosh Contributions from our volunteers, participants, bambassadors. Short film of our long agos by Tom Wall. It’s kinda hard to believe that we’ve been around for 20 years now. Well, officially at least! Unofficially we’ve been around even longer, which is perhaps a whole other story. We hope you can join us for a bit of a gathering as we reflect on the last 20 years and hear from brainy folk how they would describe the contribution GalGael’s work makes today. Govan, Scotland and the world have changed since we started out and not being ones for resting on our laurels, we’ll also look to the next 20 years and the potential of GalGael to meet new challenges. We’d particularly love the event to bring together those who’ve been part of getting us to where we are now, participants from our programmes - past and present and those who could be part of supporting what we’re yet to become. We also want to share with you our Charter - the outcome of a truly collaborative process to get really clear about what matters to us and why. The Charter will help us hold fast to what makes us GalGael as we cross this threshold in to the next twenty years. We can’t wait to see what you think and invite you to join us in sharing some hopes for the future. There’s limited space so please RSVP by getting a free Eventbrite ticket by clicking the link above.

Hands Off Our Parliament Emergency Demo During FMQs

As the Tories have chosen to entirely disregard the wishes of the Scottish Parliament - and by extension the people of Scotland - we MUST make our voices heard now, more than ever. Bring family, friends, instruments, banners, t-shirts... whatever. We can make it loud whilst keeping it civilised, but we will be heard. Not party affiliated - anyone who believes in democracy and our right to have the parliament that WE voted for is welcome.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
