Bairns Not Bombs Blockade - Faslane Nuclear Base A blockade to stop work at Faslane where Trident nuclear weapons are based just 30 miles from Glasgow.

On Monday, 13th April the Scrap Trident Bairns Not Bombs Blockade will stop work at Faslane where Trident nuclear weapons are based just 30 miles from Glasgow. Please consider either taking part directly or in a support role. For more details check out the Blockade Briefing at http://scraptrident.org/ Nonviolent Direct Action training will take place on Sunday 12th April in Glasgow. Everyone considering taking part in or supporting the blockade is asked to take part in training. Contact us for more info to set up a training for a local affinity group. Please Register at: http://scraptrident.org/faslane-blockade-2015/accomodation-and-training-registration/ Book a place on a Bus from Glasgow, Edinburgh and other places. Details at: http://scraptrident.org/faslane-blockade-2015/book-bus-to-blockade/ A one day blockade may seem to be only a gesture; the blockade may not significantly interfere with the operation of Trident. But when people put their bodies on the line & risk arrest it is a strong statement. Like a pebble dropped in a pond, such actions send out ripples. We don't know what effect it may have. By blockading we the people are telling the politicians: you don't have the right to continue threatening armageddon. Stop it! The Blockade is also part of the Global Day of Action on Military Spending, calling for substantial reductions in military spending, currently set at £38Billion for next year and for redirecting those funds towards investment in sustainable energy and other human needs like education and health. Poverty fuels wars and increasing spending on weapons by poorer countries increases poverty. It's a vicious circle. But there is currently a great deal of pressure from NATO and the US for the UK to increase its spending on the military to 2%. It's another reason to take part in this blockade. The Global Day of Action will be just that - with actions against military spending around the world. Be part of it. Our future does not have to be built around warmongering, resource competition and strife. It can be about compassion, nurturing, mutualism and care. For too long the world’s governments have wasted too many precious resources on weapons that do not provide real security. There is another way.

Scotland United Against Austerity A show of opposition to the Tory government in George Square (Glasgow), organised by the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) to coincide with the Peoples' Assembly event being held in London on the same day.

As austerity and attacks on trade union rights are ramped up, it's vital that the entire anti-austerity movement in Scotland comes together in a show of opposition to the Tory government. To coincide with the Peoples' Assembly event being held in London on the same day, the STUC is throwing its weight behind this major event which will underline the widespread disgust at Tory plans to embed and deepen austerity, targeting the most vulnerable. The STUC expects that this event will be co-sponsored by a range of organisations involved in the Peoples' Assembly including major trade unions, the Radical Independence Campaign, Labour Party Campaign for Socialism, the SNP Trade Union Group, the Communist Party and anti-racist grouping Hope not Hate. Let's make Saturday 20 June a truly historic event.

The YES Movement A non party afiliated rally for Scottish Independence

The Yes Movement Rally on the 18th of September 2016, this is being held at Glasgow Green from 12pm until 8pm. This is going to be a day to remember. Why come? Why Volunteer? I would like to tell thee. Have any of you ever felt like you were here, to do something great with your life? Well you are and this is why we are all here. We are here to change the world. It is no easy task, but to us it is clear that the task is ours. That is why they called us the Bravest in all the stories. We will show the world there is another way to live, that social and cultural change is inevitable and that a new way of doing things is being birthed. A great human being once said 'Be the change you wish to see in the world'. For too long we have been realising that the entire system is corrupt. We have waited for those in power to change things, For someone to stand up and do what's right. None of them have, not really. We are creating this Movement together. As Humanity we can free ourselves from this system that none of us agreed to when we were born here, by taking our power back and in doing that, we show others how to free themselves from the Elitist system. To put it bluntly, the days of working to pay bills and die are over. We want more for ourselves and the generations to come. We stand for Equality, Contributing and Pioneering our own future. There are new way's to do things now and we all know that, we must venture into the unknown and discover 'HOW?' together. Please email theyesrally@gmail.com. Your expertise as a wonderful human being is required if you are a First Aider, Stage Hand, Steward, Chaperone or you would like to set up a stall for the day. Please also feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions/ ideas, or if you would like to help us in anyway. All contributions are most welcomed. The system we live under is broken, we're not fixing it. We want to create a new one. Go bravely friends. We are the change bringers. Please Share this message, We look forward to hearing from you.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
