Following the recent bombing of a peace march in Ankara RIC Edinburgh has organised a Public Meeting. The meeting is co-sponsored by Edinburgh Stop the War Campaign. We will hear from Sarah Collins who was part of the September 2015 Scottish Solidarity with Kurdistan delegation who visited North of Kurdistan (Kurdish region in South of Turkey) to observe the political situation in Turkey and Kurdistan. The Delegation visited the trade unions, NGOs, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and refugee camp which had estimated over 3,000 people in Diyarbakir Murat Gullen, official spokesperson from HDP Iskocya, (The Peoples' Democratic Party Scotland) Pete Cannell, secretary of Stop the War Campaign Edinburgh Turkish state news agencies have suggested that the Saturday, 10th October Ankara bombings could have been the work of an ISIS suicide bomber. David Graham Scott Interview Award winning Scottish documentary maker David Graham Scott joins us to discuss his work and his first hand experiences of psychedelic healing. Iboga Nights https://vimeo.com/130630278

Award winning Scottish documentary maker David Graham Scott joins us to discuss his work and his first hand experiences of psychedelic healing. Iboga Nights https://vimeo.com/130630278 MORE... David Graham Scott is one of the most remarkable documentary makers in Scotland. Over the years he has built up a wide body of work, dealing with subjects ranging from a trainee hangman who lost his job with the abolition of capital punishment (Hanging with Frank) to the day to day routine of junkies in Glasgow's west end in obtaining cash for their next fix (Little Criminals). In the process he has put himself into some crazy situations, from becoming the Digger's court photographer and having to chase alleged paedophiles to make a documentary on the infamous newspaper (The Dirty Digger), getting himself addicted to heroin when getting too close to his subjects (Little Criminals), and taking a life-thereatening hallucinogen to get off of heroin (the award-winning Detox or Die). For his new film, End of the Game, Scott, a committed vegan, took an ageing eccentric from Caithness to Africa for his last big game shoot. While Scott's films have proven controversial, they are never sensationalistic. The films display a rare empathy for their subjects, and are serious explorations of subjects that others often shy away from. Tonight's Independence Live interview is certain to be an interesting one.

Alan Rankine (born 17 May 1958) is a Such a great interview coming up for you on Monday 16th May, 12pm, with Alan Rankine - the musical brains behind The Associates. What can you write or say about the Associates that hasn't already been covered or documented? We'll leave it to Björk... "The Associates went there. They didn't edit their nature out of it. They had pagan qualities. I read a book about Billy MacKenzie, and it said that all the lyrics were composed in the moment, not written down, like a stream of consciousness. For Medulla, I thought about using Billy MacKenzie's voice, and his father sent me old multi-tracks, the original tapes, and I wanted to work on it, celebrating voices, maybe do a duet with him. But when it came to it, I was too sacred."

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
