Welcome to the Independence Live archive of livestreams. We are a collective of citizen livestreamers, mostly based in Scotland, founded with the objective of producing live video at events, which the mainstream media will not cover. We have livestreamed over 1500 events since November 2013 and all for FREE. This is an archive of live videos produced mainly on the livestream.com platform between 2013 and 2021. Our success and continued growth is down to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our viewers. We continue to cover political, social and cultural events and news stories in Scotland and further afield.

Views expressed on our broadcasts do not necessarily reflect the views of the Independence Live collective nor should our coverage of any event, individual or organisation be taken as an endorsement.

From GFT Glasgow, Q&A with Alasdair Gray Short intro followed by a film (1hr 37mins) chosen by Alasdair Gray which we cannot show then the Q&A.

From GFT in the Glasgow-wide Alasdair Gray season This December, the GFT cinema takes part in the Glasgow-wide Alasdair Gray season with two unique screenings which celebrate the artist and writer. Introduced by Erik Sandberg, content manager at KILTR.com and followed by a Q&A with Alasdair Gray who chose the film - The Horse's Mouth. Independence Live will be live streaming the intro by Erik & Q&A with Alasdair Gray later. We cannot live stream the film. Film, The Horse's Mouth: This portrait of an eccentric artist stars Alec Guinness as aging, impoverished artist Gulley Jimson. After a spell in prison for harassment, Gulley moves uninvited into the luxurious apartment of a wealthy couple and begins a mural of ‘The Raising of Lazarus’ on their wall – destroying their home in the process. With grand visions, mainly fuelled by William Blake’s poems, and an unwillingness to concede to societal norms, this 1958 classic brilliantly captures the life of a man driven purely by his imagination. Director: Ronald Neame Cast: Alec Guinness, Kay Walsh, Renee Houston Year: 1958 Running Time: 1h 37m Monday 8 December Show Times 17:50

Trident still has to go – NOW! Faslane Demo: Trident still has to go – NOW!

Following the result of the Scottish independence referendum we believe that the issue of Trident nuclear weapons in Scotland is still not settled. Scrapping Trident was a central part of the Yes campaign, which attracted 45% of the vote, and a significant percentage of No voters also believe passionately that there is no place for Trident in Scotland. This means that a clear majority of the people in Scotland want to see Trident scrapped. The next intake of MPs to Westminster will be taking the decision in 2016 of whether to go ahead with replacing the current Trident system at a cost of £100 Billion. With spending on health, education, pensions and disability benefits being slashed we believe that squandering such a sum on nuclear weapons is immoral and unreasonable and call for Trident to be scrapped and human needs funded. In order to demonstrate the size, strength and passion of the popular opposition to Trident, the Scrap Trident coalition intends to hold a mass public demonstration at Faslane at 12 Noon on Sunday 30 November. We would like as many people as possible to attend, particularly those people who have never attended a demonstration at Faslane before but feel that now is the time for them to make their voice heard. We want the people of Scotland to unite and to make a call for peace that will be clearly heard by all of the political parties, both in Holyrood and Westminster. On arrival at Faslane coaches will drop off at the South Gate at about 11.45am. The buses will drop off near the Peace Camp at the South end of the base , from there we will make our way to the North Gate. We hope to see a huge, colourful, mass of people making as much noise as they possibly can. As we pass north up the A814 we will have the opportunity to attach our banners, posters, signs etc along the perimeter fence. (This can be difficult, bring thin wire and cable ties, but avoid bringing anything that could be used to cut the fence) People who don’t want to take part in the noisy demonstration or who are unable to walk the length of the fence can go directly to the North Gate where will be some singing. Once at the North Gate, we will join with all the other groups for a variety of different events. Individuals will have an opportunity to make short statements (approx 1 min) over an amplifier outlining why they are there. There will be hot drinks available at the North gate and you are encouraged to bring sandwiches and to join together to meet, eat and talk. Maps of the base will be supplied with a description of what goes on where within the complex. If you have never been to Faslane before, this is your opportunity to come and see it for yourself and to think about how its purpose is to daily prepare for devastating nuclear warfare. The event will finish by 2.00pm. For more info see scraptrident.org or contact scraptrident@gmail.com

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
