Welcome to the Independence Live archive of livestreams. We are a collective of citizen livestreamers, mostly based in Scotland, founded with the objective of producing live video at events, which the mainstream media will not cover. We have livestreamed over 1500 events since November 2013 and all for FREE. This is an archive of live videos produced mainly on the livestream.com platform between 2013 and 2021. Our success and continued growth is down to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our viewers. We continue to cover political, social and cultural events and news stories in Scotland and further afield.

Views expressed on our broadcasts do not necessarily reflect the views of the Independence Live collective nor should our coverage of any event, individual or organisation be taken as an endorsement.

7pm, Mon 21st. Castlemilk Public Meeting Castlemilk Public Meeting

About Following the RIC Glasgow Mass Canvas in Castlemilk on the 16th of April The Radical Independence Campaign will be holding an open public evening to talk about the forthcoming referendum. With 60% of the welfare cuts still to hit Scotland from Westminster it is a certainty this will affect the people of Castlemilk and future generations . We believe another Scotland is possible and invite everyone locally to attend , especially if you are a no, undecided or have never voted. The meeting will consist of speakers who represent those most affected by living under the coalition government. This will be an informal relaxed environment where people can ask questions and gain as much information as they need to help them make a choice on September the 18th. Speakers â–  Victoria Heaney- Radical Independence â– Jeane Freeman- Former chief political advisor to Jack McConnell-Woman for Independence â–  Deborah Waters- Deputy Leader- Labour for Independence â–  Michael Grey- Bussines for Scotland â–  Brian Smith- Trade Unionist, Socialist Children welcome accompanied by adults.

Digital Rights discussion from Glasgow Caledonian University Digital Rights with Patrick Harvie, Mhairi McAlpine, Alistair Davidson

How could an independent Scotland help to promote our digital rights? Has Britain failed to protect them? What do the Snowden revelations say about what precautions we should make and how we should write a post-Yes constitution? Could Bitcoin relieve the stranglehold of central banks? Are copyright laws appropriate for contemporary internet use? Joining us to explore these questions and more will be: *Patrick Harvie – Green MSP for Glasgow, and 'E-politician of the year' 2013 *Alistair Davidson – director of the Centre for Technology and Society *Mhairi McAlpine – blogger @ Second Council House of Virgo 7pm, Monday 14th April @ Hamish Wood Building, Room W115, Glasgow Caledonian University. *Access via Cowcaddens Rd, behind Queen Street station.*

Tariq Ali - Glasgow Tariq Ali - Glasgow

Over the coming months RIC will be co-hosting “The Independence Lectures” in association with Pluto Press and Wordpower books. This series of public events will be addressed by renowned academics, authors and thinkers, who will introduce radical arguments on a variety of topics related to Scotland’s constitutional debate. Through this series, we will explore every aspect of the independence debate, introducing detailed discussions on economics, history, society and culture. Our aim is to facilitate an in depth discussion on the meaning of independence, and its relationship with social change. http://radicalindependence.org/index.php/2014/02/21/the-independence-lectures-in-association-with-pluto-press-and-wordpower-books/ The first in the series is with internationally renowned author Tariq Ali. Born in Pakistan, Tariq Ali became one of Britain’s top left-wing intellectuals in the 1960s when he led student opposition to the Vietnam War. In this period, he befriended John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Malcolm X, and was the alleged inspiration for "Street Fighting Man" by the Rolling Stones. He has remained one of the UK’s most influential commentators and authors. Now, he is in Scotland to argue that a Yes vote will benefit the socialist cause UK- and world-wide. Tariq is a member of the editorial board of the journals New Left Review and Sin Permiso, and regularly contributes to The Guardian, CounterPunch, and the London Review of Books. He is the author of numerous books, including Bush in Babylon (2003), Conversations with Edward Said (2005), The Clash of Fundamentalisms: Crusades, Jihads and Modernity (2002), Street-Fighting Years: An Autobiography of the Sixties (2005), A Banker for All Seasons (2007) The Obama Syndrome (2010) and On History: Tariq Ali and Oliver Stone in Conversation (2011).

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
