Welcome to the Independence Live archive of livestreams. We are a collective of citizen livestreamers, mostly based in Scotland, founded with the objective of producing live video at events, which the mainstream media will not cover. We have livestreamed over 1500 events since November 2013 and all for FREE. This is an archive of live videos produced mainly on the livestream.com platform between 2013 and 2021. Our success and continued growth is down to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our viewers. We continue to cover political, social and cultural events and news stories in Scotland and further afield.

Views expressed on our broadcasts do not necessarily reflect the views of the Independence Live collective nor should our coverage of any event, individual or organisation be taken as an endorsement.

What now for a British Left? Post Referendum and a Tory win in the General Election, what now for a British Left?

Post Referendum and a Tory win in the General Election, what now for a British Left? We have seen a new and compelling left narrative led by the Scots and Welsh. Anti-austerity, against Trident and a thirst for an ‘all of us first politics’. Social Democracy has largely failed, but on the fringes of Europe we are seeing new left parties growing in confidence and support. The Scottish awakening has had many supporters and admirers in other parts of the UK. Ideas and organisation are not limited to Scotland, and are needed across these isles more than ever. What are our shared goals and how should we work together? How can we challenge the growing consensus for Tory politics? What are the next steps for any incarnation of the British left? In collaboration with the Radical Hope series taking place across England, Common Weal are delighted to be hosting a panel and discussion chaired by Common Weal Policy Director, Peter McColl, with: Neal Lawson, Chair of COMPASS Isobel Lindsay, Vice-Chair of Scottish CND Sarah Collins, Scottish Left Project and UNISON. The event will take place at the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church 25 Nicolson Square, EH8 9BX Edinburgh.

Ending Scottish Arms Trade with Israel International Conference "Ending Scottish Arms Trade with Israel" brings together a range of speakers to make the case that ending this commerce in death is both necessary and possible.

International Conference "Ending Scottish Arms Trade with Israel" brings together a range of speakers to make the case that ending this commerce in death is both necessary and possible. It will be an opportunity for participants to build a broad, dynamic campaign to end the sale of weapons to Israel that are used in the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Condemning the ‘deep inhumanity’ of Israel’s devastation of Gaza last summer, the Scottish Government added its voice to that of Amnesty International in calling for a suspension of arms deliveries to the State of Israel. It will take a determined civil society effort, however, to bring about such an embargo that can help to end the periodic massacres that have been the lot of the Palestinian people. Humanitarian support for the Palestinians under occupation, or symbolic gestures such as flying a Palestinian flag, can never be enough when Scotland supplies Israel with guidance systems for 500lb bombs that Israel drops on the most crowded place on earth, Gaza, killing thousands of people in that open air prison. The talks in the Renfield Centre’s main auditorium and workshops in adjoining rooms will be an opportunity for participants to develop a campaign to end Scottish factories providing Israel with the means to carry out crimes against the Palestinian people. The conference will take place in The Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JP

Glasgow May Day March and Rally Thousands of trade unionists and supporters will march through Glasgow to celebrate the international workers day. This year theme is on young people as they face the brunt of unjust austerity.

Thousands of trade unionists and supporters will march through Glasgow to celebrate the international workers day. Organised by Glasgow Trades Union Council this celebration looks to reach out to all those striving for justice peace and equality in our city. This year theme is on young people as they face the brunt of unjust austerity enduring insecure low paid employment, zero hour contracts and cuts to educational services. That is why it is our young people who will proudly lead May Day parade demonstrating that the trade union movement is a forward looking movement proud of our past while focusing on the struggle for a fair and equal future. At Glasgow O2 Academy on Bridge St there will be a range of speakers, stalls and a friendly welcoming environment where we can talk about our experiences of the past year and our hopes for the coming one. May Day is also a wider cultural celebration and will feature a diverse range of social and cultural events leading up to the May Day parade. Speakers include a live video link with the USA's Fast Food Forward movement, Gordon Maloney NUS President speaking on the need for a Living Rent and representatives of the Glasgow Girls.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
