Welcome to the Independence Live archive of livestreams. We are a collective of citizen livestreamers, mostly based in Scotland, founded with the objective of producing live video at events, which the mainstream media will not cover. We have livestreamed over 1500 events since November 2013 and all for FREE. This is an archive of live videos produced mainly on the livestream.com platform between 2013 and 2021. Our success and continued growth is down to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our viewers. We continue to cover political, social and cultural events and news stories in Scotland and further afield.

Views expressed on our broadcasts do not necessarily reflect the views of the Independence Live collective nor should our coverage of any event, individual or organisation be taken as an endorsement.

Fair Fares Recent public transport fare increases

Enough is Enough. The latest fare increases from First Bus to the cost of travelling in Glasgow are a hike too far. FirstDay tickets are going from from £4.30 to £4.50 and the network-wide ticket increases 25p to £6. A five-stop journey has gone from 95p to £1:05, to £1:15, £1:20 and now £1:40, a jump of a third in just 3 years. The Aberdeen-based multinational reported an 80% increase in profits last year to £105.8m, so for a city struggling under the impact of austerity these hikes are hard to justify. We are calling on First to scrap these increased charges, in a recognition that the people of Glasgow cannot afford to push their profits any higher this year. Although they have their own issues with fare increases, user surveys regularly show much higher rates of passenger satisfaction in Edinburgh than Glasgow. In the capital, instead of a private corporation the buses remain municipally owned. It is long past time for the Scottish Government to take action against all of Scotland’s monopolistic, profiteering and in cases corrupt local bus operators. Bus re-regulation is an essential move to ensure local communities are once again served by effective, affordable, fully integrated and publicly owned transport services. Buses were de-regulated by Margaret Thatcher in 1985, creating a corporate free-for-all. The SNP supported bus re-regulation, until in 2007 they received significant support from Stagecoach tycoon Brian Souter, and dropped the idea.

What now for Govanhill Baths? Govanhill Baths Community Trust 99 Calder Street, G42 7RA Glasgow, United Kingdom Closed for more than 15 years, the Baths has had a renewed life as a vibrant and well-used arts, culture, and wellbeing venue for Govanhill and the wider Southside. With the old life as swimming facility and new life as creative hub colliding, what will the Baths look like at reopening in 2018? The clock is now ticking until closure changes the Baths forever. Join us for this panel event to discuss the new era of Govanhill Baths, asking difficult questions about the arts, wellbeing, and community empowerment in working class communities such as Govanhill. What is happening with Oil? a lecture by Dr Alister Hamilton

This event Will Be On youtube 2008: Oil at $147 / barrel 2015: Oil at $30 / barrel a public meeting to discuss the drivers for this rollercoaster and the impacts now and in the future. With Dr Alister Hamilton Register at https://oil25may.eventbrite.co.uk/ Dr Alister Hamilton, member of Transition Edinburgh, avid watcher of Peak Oil scenarios and Senior Lecturer in the University of Edinburgh School of Engineering will share his latest analysis of the data and the trends. Share your ideas too in a wide-ranging discussion on what all this means. The Ponzi Fracking schemes in the USA have depressed prices - but for how long? What does the current global glut mean for Peak Oil / Oil Depletion? What is really happening with OPEC and the Saudi super oil ministry? Will the transition to renewables - wind and solar - really cut demand? What is likely impact of electric vehicles on demand for oil? Would Unconventional Gas extracted from mainland Britain really be cheap? Mary Church, Head of Campaigns for Friends of the Earth Scotland, will respond and draw out the key issues to watch. All welcome. Some refreshments available if you arrive in good time before 6.30!

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
