SELF-DETERMINATION: a new dance solo work The first choreographic work streamed live by Independence Live. Dance artist Ruth Mills explores the arena of self agency through the eyes of a woman facing marriage on the day after Scotland's independence referendum.

This is a new piece created by dance artist Ruth Mills called "SELF-DETERMINATION" and the first choreographic work that will be livestreamed by Independence Live. Quoting from Ruth's website: "Lying there, her cold, curled limbs delaying the shiver of the crisp, Scottish September morning, she recalls something her Granny said. After Grandpa died, Granny pared her sitting room down to one of everything. A chair, a little table, one cup, one plate... "It isn't good to be too dependent in life, there is far more happiness and contentedness in independence, don't rely too much on anyone else." Ruth explores the arena of self agency through the eyes of a woman facing marriage on the day after Scotland's independence referendum. From hope through despair to devision and restoration. She was on the fence, then it broke beneath her. A new musical score by Gerry Campbell, deftly weaves sweet and spikey musical motifs with spoken word and live soundscape". The performance takes place in Cottiers Theatre, 93-95 Hyndland St, Glasgow G11 5PU, United Kingdom

Beatrice Fihn is the Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning campaign coalition that works to prohibit and eliminate nuclear weapons. Since the Nobel awards ceremony in Oslo Beatrice has visited heads of state as well as having an audience with Pope Francis and contributing to high level diplomatic negotiations around the world. Her visit is in recognition of Scotland's distinctive stance within the UK on nuclear weapons and the encouragement that stance gives to the international disarmament movement. On Wednesday afternoon she will visit Faslane naval base to share in the regular protest vigil there.

On the 17th of June 2017, Douglas Gilgallon from Glasgow and member of the group SNP Friends of Palestine, climbed to the top of Ben Nevis with the Palestinian Flag flying from a pole attatched to his backpack. This act of solidarity was to raise money for the charity MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians). The next day when he posted his achievement on social media, it was shared over 4K times and his video at the summit was seen by 223,000 people. His endeavour compelled hundreds of people from around the world to contact him to thank him for showing their Flag the honour it deserved, and for being a beacon of good at a time when many around the world are living in fear. His climb even reached the attention of the The Prime Minister of Palestine, who sent a personal letter of thanks to Douglas along with an Invitation to visit Palestine and meet with him in his office. Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
