SKELF Bike Park Tree Planting Day Skelf is a Bike trails and pump track that is being built in the Braidwoods area of Hollyrood Park.

Skelf is a Bike trails and pump track that is being built in the Braidwoods area of Hollyrood Park. The Project has attracted some criticism from some residents regarding the consultation for the project. "The trails and track will be built in a sliver of self-seeded woodland that is currently poorly managed and plagued by antisocial behaviour. The trails and pump track have been designed by some of the worlds best trail designers and will suit all levels of ability, from beginners to experienced riders. To find out more about the SKELF project, visit our website: http://theskelf.org.uk/ You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram @skelfbikepark!"

Press Conference Sheku Bayoh Death in Police Custody

Press Conference with the family of Sheku Bayoh on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 at the Royal Faculty in Procurators of Glasgow at 11.15am. Present will be: Collette Bell (partner of Mr Bayoh); Kadi Johnson (sister of Mr Bayoh); and Aamer Anwar, Solicitor for the Bayoh family. Aamer Anwar stated: “On May 3rd it will be the three years since Sheku Bayoh was restrained by up to nine police officers and lost his life. Since then Sheku’s loved ones have waited for clarity as to the circumstances in which their beloved son, brother and partner died. Despite the passage of time, their pain remains raw and their grief made worse by the failure of the authorities to provide them with the answers they are entitled to. Now they have decided enough is enough and on Wednesday Sheku’s family will reveal the full details of the civil action, as well as the new demands they will now place on the Scottish Government and Crown Office. Also on Wednesday INQUEST’s Director, Deborah Coles will raise the unacceptable delay in uncovering the truth and establishing accountability with Tendayi Achiume, the UN Special Rapporteur on racism. The family allege that Police Scotland’s officers failed in their duty of reasonable care to protect the life of Sheku Bayoh. No amount of money will bring Sheku Bayoh back – this, for the family, is about justice.”

Mr Fishing Rov FishingROV a project to develop a new sustainable fishing method.

FishingROV a project to develop a new sustainable fishing method. Selectively fishing for the target species, eliminating by-catch while minimizing damage to the seabed. It’s capable of individually catching scallops from the sea bed; reducing our dependence on scallop dredging and avoiding the damage to the sea bed associated with dredging. Catches other food species without any by-catch, dredge or trawl damage. Brings moreawareness to the sea floor and kindles an appreciation for a place few people visit. Provides a sustainable and distributed employment for local costal workers. I also hope it will be useful in controlling the Lion Fish population explosion currently unbalancing the ecosystems of Bermuda and the east coast of America. It could also potentially fish in waters too deep to be easily accessed by divers 100m+. I love the idea that anyone could build a FishingROV and try to develop the design to make self build easier. The idea is to use off the shelf components as much as possible and think of where 3D printing and other low cost CAM could be employed to maintain affordability. The project will be Open Source, with all plans, code, ideas and research available for free. Also I would like to invite feedback/ideas from anyone with an interest, to speed the development and track implemented ideas.

Make Poverty History This event is organised by the Edinburgh World Justice Festival to mark 10 years since the first march against Poverty in Edinburgh and the G8 at Gleneagles.

July 2nd 2015 marks 10 years on from Make Poverty History and the G8 at Gleneagles. On 2 July 2005 more than 200,000 people marched in Edinburgh under the banner of Make Poverty History. In the aftermath and in response to the presence of the G8 leaders at Gleneagles there were more marches and a massive counter conference under the auspices of G8 alternatives. Ten years on we’ve certainly not made poverty history. What can we take from 2005 and the decade of organisation and struggle that has followed? What are the priorities for organising for social justice in 2015? If you can't attend in person, join us online for an evening of discussion and consideration of these questions. David Miller, who was involved in G8 Alternatives, and Gillian Wilson from NIDOS (Network of International Organisations in Scotland), will introduce the discussion. This event is organised by the Edinburgh World Justice Festival and takes place in Augustine United Church, 41-43 George IV Bridge, EH1 1EL, Edinburgh

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
